Year 9

Nairana’s programs are directed to the all-round education of young men. Students are welcome from all schools, cultural and religious backgrounds.

Weekly Study Afternoons

Year 9 students attend Nairana on Thursday afternoon. In addition, Year 9s are welcome to join us on Saturday afternoons.

Weekly study afternoons allow boys to study with focus: in silence and under supervision. This time allows each student to make progress in their homework and school assignments, including group work.

Each week a talk on some aspect of Christian life is provided in small groups. This will be followed by a brief get-together or game of sport, such as indoor futsal.

Weekday Timetable

  • 3:45pm: Arrive at Nairana for afternoon tea
  • 4:00pm: Prayer in the Chapel - clear and calm the mind to prepare for study
  • 4:15pm: Silent Study – guided session on how to do one’s work well using OptimalWork.com
  • 5:15pm: Virtues Talk/Circle
  • 5:30pm Sport and cleanup
  • 6:00pm: Pick up

During the study time, students are taken individually for a mentoring session with a mentor.

Mentoring

Our one-on-one mentoring program aims to help students to formulate concrete goals to help them develop in their spiritual life and their academics through the cultivation of virtues. Through this, we aim to help young men apply Christian faith to their daily lives and work.

  • 3:00pm - Golden Hour of Study
  • 4:00pm - Basement Soccer

Camps

We usually run the Year 9 and 10 Summer Program in January. We also run special camps during other times of the year. This may include interstate or overseas trips such as work camps.

Silent Retreats

We encourage boys to do a retreat near the end of Year 9. Please click here for more information.

Registration for New Students

  • Fill in the Nairana Registration Form on the website
  • Attend the Nairana Information Session or attend an interview (parent and child must be present) which can be booked via nairana.org.
  • Sign Parental Consent Form
  • Pay the term fees

Re-enrolment for Existing Students

From 2026, we are requiring all Year 9–12 students—even those who have attended previously—to participate in our onboarding process. We ask students to complete an interview at the beginning of each year to confirm their commitment to attending the study centre. This conversation is essential in empowering them to take ownership of their education and truly make the centre their own space for growth.

Onboarding Steps

  • Student's Task: The student must complete the Google Form.
  • Personal Interview: We will conduct an interview with the student.
  • Confirmation: Finalise the term fee payment.
  • Continuing Commitment: Near the end of every term, we will check in with both the student and parents to confirm their commitment to continuing with Nairana for the next term.
