About Us

Our Mission

Nairana Study Centre supports young men to build habits of work, friendship, and responsibility so that they can flourish and serve others:

  • inspired by Christian ideals and priorities identified by parents
  • in partnership with parents, staff and volunteers

  • through ongoing input, group activities and personal mentoring

The history of

Nairana Study Centre

Nairana Study Centre opened in 1997 in temporary facilities in Pennant Hills. This followed years of activities conducted by Dartbrooke Study Centre, located in Chatswood and, formerly in Roseville, since 1978.

From its inception, Nairana has partnered with parents to create a complementary educational environment for their sons that reinforces values instilled at home, including Christian ideals, hard work, friendship, and service. Through its diverse programs and activities, the Nairana team is dedicated to helping each student thrive as an individual.

In 2004, following years of fundraising by parents, friends, and staff, Nairana relocated to purpose-built facilities on Trebor Road, Pennant Hills. Today, Nairana features modern facilities for visitors, including study and reading rooms, a chapel, meeting and lounge areas, a spacious backyard, and an indoor futsal court.

Nairana Study Centre & Opus Dei

The spiritual formation and faith-based activities at the Centre are entrusted to Opus Dei, which is a personal prelature of the Catholic Church, approved by Pope John Paul II on 28th November 1982. St Josemaria Escriva, a Catholic priest, founded Opus Dei, meaning “Work of God” in Latin, on 2nd October, 1928.

The mission of Opus Dei is to promote a deep awareness of the universal call to union with God, among people of all walks of life, through their daily activities. In other words, finding God in your everyday life.  Opus Dei operates throughout the world in over 80 countries. The Central Headquarters for Opus Dei is located in the city of Rome.  Click here for more information about Opus Dei.

Question to Mums of current students

Why do you send your sons to Nairana?

Nairana is a place that fosters independence, gives them a sense of adventure and fun in a way that aligns with our values and morals as a family. It also helps them to develop friendships with other like-minded boys and families.

SW

Nairana primarily gives formation and fosters self-growth through talks of formation and times of supervised study.  My boys think that the tutors are cool and fun to be with.

AL

I know that my sons are in good company at Nairana with fine men who they can imitate. I want my boys to grow into fine men. At Nairana, they learn about virtues, how to love your neighbors, how to be good friends, how to be charitable ….

CD

Nairana helps them to develop a spirit of service, to challenge them to look outside themselves. The workcamps and service projects are a testament of that, helping people less fortunate than them really changes their perspective on life.
